Looking forward to 2026
We look forward to a busy 2026, with plans already underway to continue improving and expanding our services:
- We hope to finalize a deal with New York City Health + Hospitals (NYC H+H) to join their system, which will allow us to expand access to our care, continue to meet the growing needs of our communities, and strengthen our financial position. By joining NYC H+H, Maimonides will receive up to $2.2 billion over five years in a State grant announced in October and millions of dollars a year in additional Medicaid revenue by accessing higher reimbursement rates available to public hospitals. This funding will support a range of critical capital and operational projects, including the acquisition of a state-of-the-art electronic medical record system, which will make it easier for patients to access their medical records.
- We are expanding our Adult Emergency Department, with new additions including centralized, same-floor imaging for greater convenience.
- Our new Cardiac Catheterization Lab will bring state-of-the-art equipment in a modernized setting to our renowned Heart and Vascular Institute at Maimonides Medical Center.
- Our upcoming 20-bed inpatient adolescent psychiatric unit will become one of just two behavioral health units in New York City providing dedicated care for adolescents, marking a major step forward in responding to urgent mental health needs citywide.
- We will continue to expand expert primary and specialty care with greater convenience for more Brooklynites with a new multispecialty clinic on Nostrand Avenue in Midwood.
- The Maimonides Cancer Center Lobby will undergo a revitalization to enhance the quality of the space for those receiving treatment and screening services.
As we move into the new year, we express heartfelt and renewed gratitude to our team, our patients, our partners, and our community for more than a century by our side, and for their continuous support in advancing our mission of creating and maintaining accessible, world-class care and developing as a destination for specialty care for all Brooklynites.
