Two Maimonides Health leaders named UHF Quality Improvement Champions
Clinical leaders Sergey M. Motov, MD, FAAEM, Emergency Medicine Physician and Research Director at Maimonides Medical Center, and Fouad Bou Harb, MD, Director of Infection Control at Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital, were honored by the United Hospital Fund (UHF) as 2026 Quality Improvement Champions. Dr. Motov and Dr. Bou Harb were among 76 quality improvement leaders from 68 healthcare organizations across the metropolitan region recognized for their tireless efforts to improve the quality, safety, and patient care at their institutions. Dr. Patrick Borgen named 2026 Giant of Cancer Care
Patrick Borgen, MD, Chair of Surgery at Maimonides Health and Director of the Maimonides Breast Center, was named a 2026 Giant of Cancer Care by OncLive, recognizing his contributions to immeasurable improvements in outcomes for patients with cancer, with a special focus on community outreach and education. Dr. Borgen joins a select group of just over 120 physician leaders, pioneers, and innovators who have achieved landmark successes within the global field of oncology since the founding of the peer-nominated award in 2011. Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital Emergency Department recognized for excellent geriatric care
Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital’s Emergency Department has achieved Level 3 Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation from the American College of Emergency Physicians. As a Level 3 emergency department, Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital has incorporated best practices and standardized approaches to care designated by the American College of Emergency Physicians, along with providing interdisciplinary geriatric education and having geriatric-appropriate equipment and supplies available. Dr. Mary Lee-Wong honored by New York State lawmakers
Mary Lee-Wong, MD, Chief of Adult Allergy and Immunology, received the Outstanding Asian American Women Community Leader Award at the Urban United Association’s 250th Anniversary of America: Building on the Past and Ushering in the Future event and Asian Pacific American Heritage Month awards ceremony on May 26 in Albany. She received a citation from New York State legislative leaders and Brooklyn representatives Lester Chang and Stephen Chan. Read more.
