Credits Grant from NYS Governor Kathy Hochul’s “Expanding Safe and Supportive Medical and/or Procedural Abortion Access in New York State”

Brooklyn, NY (July 17, 2023) – Maimonides Medical Center’s Early Pregnancy Assessment Center (EPAC) recently celebrated the arrival of two new ultrasound units, thanks to a $500,000 grant awarded through NYS Governor Kathy Hochul’s “Expanding Safe and Supportive Medical/and or Procedural Abortion Access in New York State initiative.”

The EPAC is Brooklyn’s first and only hospital-based provider that offers necessary, time-sensitive care in early pregnancy. They offer same-day and next-day appointments to pregnant patients with concerns or complications, and Maimonides’ Family Planning program is the largest in the borough.

“Maimonides serves an essential role in this community, and our ability to acquire such funding is testament to our commitment and ability to meet the health needs of those we serve,” says Ken Gibbs, President and CEO of Maimonides Health. “These new ultrasounds offer our EPAC patients improved access to early pregnancy care and continue our commitment to expand access to care for all Brooklynites.”
