In recognition of International Women’s Day, The Jamaica Gleaner has highlighted “[t]hree Jamaican women who are thriving in the Diaspora, not only achieving remarkable success in their chosen professions . . . but who continue to give back to their homeland,” including Maimonides’ own Dr. Millicent Comrie.

Dr. Comrie is the medical director of Maimonides Obstetrics and Gynecology Women’s Health, one of the practices located within Maimonides Doctors Clinton Hill Pavilion. She’s skilled in all aspects of obstetric and gynecologic care, including surgery. Upon realizing many Black women were having their uteri removed to treat fibroids, she pioneered surgical techniques to remove fibroids while saving the uterus—and her patients’ fertility. She said, “I believed that there had to be a better way.”
