Robotic Surgery - adult

At Maimonides, robotic surgery features the revolutionary da Vinci system, a computer-assisted robot whose arms mimic a surgeon’s hand movements. With a surgeon’s guidance and the aid of a tiny camera, these arms reach through key-hole sized incisions that are smaller than a dime, and precisely navigate micro-instruments to conduct procedures that cause less bleeding, scarring, and pain, and offer faster recovery and shorter hospital stays.

Robotic Surgery - pediatrics

Maimonides Children’s Hospital was the first hospital to offer robot-assisted surgery to the children of Brooklyn. Robot-assisted surgery uses robotic arms that are controlled by a surgeon and are fitted with various instruments in order to perform difficult operations through tiny incisions.  These robotic arms are guided by a small camera and are designed with wrists that can be moved in more directions than a human hand. With the help of the robot, our surgeons use very delicate movements to perform complex surgeries in tight spaces. Since 2006, pediatric urologists and pediatric general surgeons at Maimonides Children’s Hospital have used this technology to help heal some of the smallest members of our Brooklyn community.

After undergoing robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery, we see that our patients have less pain, leave the hospital sooner and return to their normal daily activities more quickly.
