Brooklyn, NY, May 9, 2025 – Maimonides Health nursing leaders Marcia Hodge, DNP, MSN, RN, CCNS, Director of Nursing Excellence & Quality, Maimonides Medical Center, and Boris Molchanskiy, DNP, FNP, CCRN-K, AE-c, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital, have been awarded the 2025 Excellence in Health Care Award by the United Hospital Fund for extraordinary leadership in improving quality of care, patient safety, and patient experience. They were among the 74 individuals selected from 71 participating healthcare organizations across the New York metropolitan region to be honored this year.

Dr. Hodge has served as Director of Nursing at Maimonides since 2019, utilizing her passion for continuous improvement, elevated healthcare standards, operational efficiency and advancing patient outcomes. In her role at Maimonides, she has introduced the Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program (CUSP) Methodology and collaborated with our Physical Therapy Department to launch a Mobilization Initiative to reduce the number of patients who developed hospital-acquired pressure injuries by 45% over a two-year period. She also launched programs to support nurse-led performance improvement initiatives and advance the professional practice of Maimonides nurses. To drive positive improvements in the management of patients’ plan of care, she led an initiative to achieve an 85% improvement in the nursing medication documentation in the EMR. Previously, Dr. Hodge held the roles of Oncology Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, and Cardiothoracic ICU Staff Nurse at Maimonides. She was the Education Chairperson for the Trinidad & Tobago Nurses Association of America (TTNAA), held a clinical adjunct faculty role at Touro University School of Nursing, and is an active member of Touro’s Nursing Advisory Board. Her social impact work includes 3 years as the NYC Regional Director for the Yale Day of Service, working with nonprofit organizations to serve our communities.  Other contributions include launching the Big Brother Big Sister Nurse Mentorship Day at Maimonides, organizing community health fairs, launching the Caribbean Chapter of the Yale Alumni Nonprofit Alliance (YANA), organizing and participating in hurricane relief in Carriacou, Grenada, and holding food drives across New York City. She is a member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, American Organization for Nursing Leadership, American Nurses Association, Empire State Bioethics Consortium, New York Organization for Nursing Leadership, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

Dr. Molchanskiy is passionate about delivering high-quality health care to Brooklyn by expanding community access to health care, improving education for frontline staff, and leveraging technology. He has shown significant clinical leadership at MMCH throughout a transformation effort underway since 2020, when MMCH joined the Maimonides Health system. Recent updates include a new advanced cardiac suite offering a full spectrum of emergency and preventative cardiac services, a modernized infusion center, and a state-of-the-art MRI suite – all updates centered around bringing world-class, lifesaving care closer to patients in Brooklyn. Dr. Molchanskiy previously held leadership positions at Mount Sinai Health System and AVP of Population Health and Informatics at Richmond University Medical Center, as well as faculty at Long Island University, the College of Staten Island, St. Paul’s School of Nursing, and Wagner College. He is an active member in the Epsilon Mu chapter of Wagner College and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. He was also recognized as a 2024 Notable Health Care Leader by Crain’s New York.

The awards were presented at the Tribute to Excellence in Health Care, held on May 5 at Cipriani 42nd Street and attended by 550 members of the New York metropolitan area health care community. Keynote remarks were delivered by Dr. James V. McDonald, Commissioner of the New York State Department of Health. Health care leaders, physicians, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, and other patient care professionals were among those recognized for extraordinary leadership in the areas of health care quality improvement, patient safety, and patient experience, from institutions including hospital systems, long-term care facilities, home care organizations, independent practice associations, and more.
