BROOKLYN, NY (Jan. 16, 2024) Maimonides Health proudly announces that its Cancer Center has re-earned accreditation from the Commission on Cancer (CoC), a quality program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). To achieve CoC accreditation, the Maimonides Cancer Center underwent a site visit to confirm the program’s compliance with accreditation standards that evaluate the cancer care services offered by the program.

“We are proud to have received this accreditation from the Commission on Cancer, and it reflects the continued commitment to Maimonides Medical Center has to world class cancer care here in Brooklyn,” said Ken Gibbs, President and CEO, Maimonides Health. “Furthermore, this accreditation allows us to extend our knowledge through participation of joint programming by the CoC, such as having access to comparative benchmarks for similar programs, and access tools for quality improvement, assurance and review. As we continue to expand the care we provide, we thank the commission for their support.”

As a CoC-accredited cancer center, Maimonides Cancer Center applies a multidisciplinary approach and treats cancer as a complex group of diseases that requires consultation among surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, pathologists, and other health care professionals that specialize in caring for the cancer patient. Cancer patients benefit from having access to clinical trials, screening and prevention events, palliative care, genetic counseling, rehabilitation, oncology nutrition, and survivorship services.
