Thank You event celebrated staff that led to Maimonides Medical Center being recognized by Healthgrades as one of the 50 best hospitals nationwide for surgical care & cardiac surgery and 100 best for orthopedic surgery
BROOKLYN, NY – Following recognition by Healthgrades in October as one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Surgery and Surgical Care, as well as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery, Maimonides Health yesterday hosted a “Thank You” event to recognize the staff contributions that made these prestigious achievements possible. The event featured trustees, hospital leadership, and community and labor leaders celebrating the culture of clinical excellence created by staff.
“What makes Maimonides exceptional is our hardworking, dedicated staff that treat every patient who comes through our doors like family” said Maimonides Health CEO Ken Gibbs. “They have helped to nurture a culture of clinical excellence that is supported by labor and community leaders across our borough. Truly, our accomplishments are Brooklyn’s accomplishments.”
During the event, which was sponsored by the Maimonides Board of Trustees, Maimonides Health CEO Ken Gibbs delivered remarks praising hospital staff for their achievements this year, especially in light of the ongoing transformation of healthcare as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. He applauded the workforce across the entire Maimonides Health family, including Maimonides Medical Center and Maimonides Midwood Community Health, for always putting patients first, leading to national recognition by Healthgrades and US News and World Report rankings.

“I was born at Maimonides. When I was 23 they saved my life. When I had COVID-19, I went there too. So I’ve had a front row seat to the lifesaving care that the incredible staff at Maimonides have provided my entire life,” said Council Member Justin Brannan. “Health care and hospital workers have been on the front lines of multiple crises in just the last few years, and they have shepherded the rest of us through them with grace, professionalism, and compassion. When it comes to our communities here in southern Brooklyn, no one is more worthy of thanks then our hometown team at Maimonides.”

“Nurses are on the front lines and have gone above-and-beyond caring for patients in the last two years – despite these challenges our members have continued to provide excellent patient care with great clinical outcomes here at Maimonides,” Nancy Hagans, President of NYSNA. “It is a pleasure to recognize our members’ hard work here today with the administration as well as community and labor leaders. Maimonides is made great by its staff, and our nurses are proud to be part of that team.”
