“We are proud of our clinical teams and leaders for their exceptional dedication to positive outcomes, and we congratulate all members of our team who have contributed to the record of high-quality care recognized by Healthgrades today,” said Ken Gibbs, President and CEO of Maimonides Health. “This past year, we’ve made significant strides in creating convenient access to quality outpatient primary and specialty care for more Brooklyn neighborhoods. We look forward to continued progress in expanding care in key areas, including an updated cardiac catheterization lab and ongoing emergency department expansions at Maimonides Medical Center. We are proud to achieve and maintain these recognitions for quality specialty care from Healthgrades—a testament to how we’re not only expanding access to essential care for Brooklynites, but also continuing to raise the bar for quality of health care here in Brooklyn, offering patients world-class care close to home.”
“At every level of our health system, we place quality of patient care at the top of our priorities,” said John Marshall, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Executive VP of Medical Affairs, Maimonides Health. “These honors from Healthgrades highlight the expertise and commitment to excellence of the entire Maimonides team, especially in the key clinical areas in which we’ve been recognized for high performance. A special congratulations goes to our Comprehensive Stroke Center team, whose new stroke care recognition from Healthgrades this year is the result of several years of quality improvement and continued regional leadership.”
Maimonides’ achievements are based solely on what matters most: patient outcomes. Unlike rankings based on surveys or reputation, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance strictly on objective clinical outcomes–risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates–across more than 30 common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide.
The impact of choosing a high-performing hospital is significant. Healthgrades’ 2027 analysis revealed that if all hospitals performed at the level of five-star rated facilities during the 2023-2025 study period, 227,229 lives could have been saved and 158,138 complications could have been avoided.*
“Finding a hospital that excels in a given procedure or treatment can transform a patient’s health trajectory,” said Alana Biggers, MD, MPH, medical advisor at Healthgrades. “We’re proud to recognize Maimonides Medical Center for its top-tier performance in orthopedics, spine surgery, prostate care, and stroke care, and we commend its team for delivering exceptional patient outcomes when it matters most.”

For the sixth year in a row, Maimonides was named a “Best Regional Hospital,” in addition to recognition as a “Best Regional Hospital for Community Access” for the third year in a row since the category’s inception. Maimonides is the only Brooklyn-based health system recognized in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings.
