Briana Calin, a 17-year-old Brooklynite, is in remission after a successful treatment plan that included chemotherapy and surgery performed by experts from Maimonides Cancer Center. But she’s still a regular at Maimonides Children’s Hospital, and not just for routine follow-up care. Briana partners with Shari Feinberg, a pediatric oncology nurse practitioner, to support other young patients with cancer, planning toy drives and events for them.
“To see someone who is at their worst and help them travel through this journey to get back to their best … you can’t ask for anything better,” said Feinberg.
Outside of the hospital, Briana leads a cancer support group at her school and is helping organize a fundraising walk for cancer with Relay for Life.
