Maimonides Health is committed to meeting the ever-changing needs of the diverse communities we serve. Maimonides Medical Center is in Borough Park, next to Sunset Park and Bensonhurst, which are home to two of Brooklyn’s many Chinatowns.
As these Asian communities grow, so too does our commitment to provide culturally sensitive and tailored healthcare services for them.
Dr. Jenny Tsang-Quinn, Senior Vice President of Ambulatory Health Services and Population Health at Maimonides, says, “We had one of the first population health departments in the city. If someone speaks a dialect, and we see that population growing, we want to make sure there are doctors or nurses who speak that dialect.”
Maimonides offers a robust array of Asian patient services. And we believe in building a team that is as diverse as the communities we serve. As such, our system has one of the highest numbers of Asian physicians in the tristate area, and approximately 19% of our workforce identifies as Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI).
Among them are Jenny Sanchez, one of the leaders of the AAPI Employee Resource Group, Dr. Mary Lee-Wong, an allergist and immunologist, and Dr. Myung Bae, an emergency medicine provider and wilderness medicine expert, each of whom use their experiences and cultural competence to improve Maimonides for both patients and employees.
