Dr. Martin Bluth, Director of the Maimonides Blood Bank, received the organization’s Hospital Leadership Award at Bikur Cholim’s 70th Annual Dinner on Sunday, December 17, at Ateres Chaya in Boro Park, Brooklyn
BROOKLYN, NY, (Jan. 2, 2024) — Maimonides Medical Center announced today that the Bikur Cholim Chesed Organization in Boro Park honored Martin H. Bluth, MD, PhD, with its Hospital Leadership Award at its 70th Annual Dinner on Sunday, December 17.
“I am delighted that Bikur Cholim is honoring Dr. Bluth with its Hospital Leadership Award, and congratulate the organization on its long history of serving this community,” said Kenneth D. Gibbs, President and CEO, Maimonides Health. “For more than 25 years, Bikur Cholim has been one of our staunchest Blood Drive partners, working hand-in-hand with the Blood Bank and Dr. Bluth to provide critical blood services to the underserved of Boro Park.”
Dr. Bluth joined Maimonides Medical Center as the Medical Director of the Blood Bank in July 2020 and has since assumed a number of leadership positions, including Chief of Blood Transfusion Medicine and Donor Services, Assistant Director of Clinical Laboratories and Director of Translational Research for the Department of Pathology at Maimonides Medical Center. He also holds appointments as clinical professor of pathology at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit and Global Medical Director for Kids Kicking Cancer.
“I am a Boro Park native, born at Maimonides Medical Center and grew up speaking Yiddish, so I am deeply connected with this community. I cherish the partnership we have with Bikur Cholim. The relentless advocacy they have for providing the ‘Gift of Life’ for those who need blood to live, is exemplary,” said Dr. Bluth. “I am thrilled and honored to be this year’s Hospital Leadership Award recipient.”
