BROOKLYN, NY (May 29, 2024) Maimonides Medical Center announced today that Dr. Scott Chudnoff, Chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology, was recognized as a Castle Connolly 2024 Top Doctor and a 2024 New York Super Doctor, and has also received a 2024 Women’s Choice Award. All three awards are given to doctors who reflect dedication and passion to supporting patient wellbeing and care within their field.

Prior to joining Maimonides, Dr. Chudnoff was the Chair of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Stamford Health in Stamford, Connecticut. Previously, he served as the Director of Gynecology at Montefiore Medical Center. In addition to his role at Maimonides, he is also a clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. Dr. Chudnoff is a Brooklyn native and received his BA in Biology at Yeshiva University, his MD in Medicine at Rutgers Medical School and his Masters of Clinical Science at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center.
Dr. Chudnoff’s career now comes full circle as he leads a program from which he himself is a personal patient alumnus, as he was born at Maimonides Medical Center in 1973. Dr. Chudnoff is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and an active member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists; American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists; Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics; American Society for Reproductive Medicine; and the Society of Reproductive Surgeons.
Dr. Chudnoff has led Maimonides’ Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women’s Health services through several recent major changes, including the 2023 creation of the Women’s Health Institute and the hospital’s expansion of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), completed in January 2024. The NICU is equipped to offer advanced procedures, and provides around the clock coverage for all high-risk deliveries and care. In the NICU, conditions such as infections, birth defects and prematurity are treated. In recognition of excellence in the delivery of maternity and neonatal care, Maimonides is a New York State-designated Regional Perinatal Center (RPC) and was this recognized by Healthgrades as a Five-Star Recipient for Vaginal Delivery for 9 Years in a Row (2015-2024).
