Brooklyn, NY – (May 31, 2024) – Maimonides Health is proud to announce that Luis F. Riquelme, PhD, Director of Rehabilitation and Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), has been selected by the New York State Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NYSSLHA) for the 2024 Honors of the Association Award.

NYSSLHA’s Honors of the Association Award is the organization’s highest accolade, given to individuals who have distinguished themselves as leaders in the fields of Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, and/or Communication Sciences and Disorders. The award highlights Dr. Riquelme’s continued dedication to furthering excellence in these disciplines.

Dr. Riquelme’s dedication and service to the field of SLP have deeply contributed to the advancement of knowledge in the areas of swallowing and swallowing disorders (dysphagia), leadership in the field, and the connection of culture and cultural responsiveness to the effective provision of SLP services. He is well known locally and internationally for his work and standards of excellence, earning him this recognition.

The Honors of the Association Award was presented at the NYSSLHA Convention in White Plains, NY, on May 3, 2024, at the Honors and Awards Ceremony. Dr. Riquelme’s colleagues at Maimonides and the broader community commend him for this achievement.
