Brooklyn, NY, Dec. 18, 2024 – Crain’s New York Business has recognized Ken Gibbs, CEO and President of Maimonides Health, and Boris Molchanskiy, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer of Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital (MMCH), on its 2024 Notable Health Care Leaders list. Mr. Gibbs and Dr. Molchanskiy were among 53 honorees from organizations across the New York metro area, selected for their accomplishments over the past year and the progress they have made throughout their leadership in the region’s health care sector. This is Mr. Gibbs’ second year in a row to be named a Notable Health Care Leader by Crain’s.

Mr. Gibbs has served as President and CEO since 2016. Under his visionary leadership, Maimonides Medical Center (MMC) has experienced remarkable growth, transforming from a standalone hospital into Maimonides Health, the Brooklyn-based health system anchored by MMC, Maimonides Children’s Hospital, and MMCH. Currently, Mr. Gibbs oversees a staff of more than 7,000 and an annual budget of $2 billion, while spearheading the actualization of Maimonides’ strategic vision to meet the growing needs of communities served by the health system as well as those underserved by the health care sector.

Under his guidance, Maimonides has delivered exceptional clinical outcomes, routinely ranking among the best in the state or nation in multiple specialties, achieving dramatically improved patient experience scores, and building new specialty care programs, many of which are unique in Brooklyn. Major facility upgrades over the past five years include the Maimonides Bay Ridge Emergency Department, the Maimonides Doctors Multispecialty Pavilion, and the new cardiac suite at MMCH. As the health system works to change the face of emergency care in southern Brooklyn, work is underway to more than double Maimonides’ emergency department space, adding a new, state-of-the-art pediatric emergency department and a dedicated psychiatric emergency department.

“It’s an honor to receive this recognition on behalf of the team at Maimonides Health, as we continue to build up our capacity to offer the highest quality of care to improve the health of our communities,” said Ken Gibbs. “Our clinical outcomes continue to rank among the best in the country as we work to expand our services and meet the unique needs of our community, and we look forward to continuing to be Brooklyn’s essential hub for outstanding, accessible specialty and community health care.”

Dr. Boris Molchanskiy, DNP, is Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer of MMCH, formerly New York Community Hospital. He is passionate about delivering high-quality health care to Brooklyn by expanding community access to health care, improving education for frontline staff and leveraging technology. He has previously held leadership positions at Mount Sinai Health System and AVP of Population Health and Informatics at Richmond University Medical Center as well as faculty at Long Island University, the College of Staten Island, and St. Paul’s School of Nursing. He is an active member in the Epsilon Mu chapter of Wagner College and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.

Dr. Molchanskiy has shown significant clinical leadership at MMCH throughout a transformation effort underway since 2018, when MMCH joined the Maimonides Health system. Recent updates include a new advanced cardiac suite offering a full spectrum of emergency and preventative cardiac services, a modernized infusion center, and a state-of-the-art MRI suite – all updates centered around bringing world-class, lifesaving care close to patients in Brooklyn.

“I’m honored to be recognized among the many leaders on this list making strides in our field,” said Dr. Molchanskiy. “At MMCH, I am proud to be part of a team that is passionate about making clinical changes that are most impactful for our community, whether it be through offering new lifesaving cardiac technologies or reducing emergency room wait times.”
