Dr. Lee-Wong recognized for her decades of leadership and contribution to community service 

Brooklyn, NY, July 8, 2026 –Mary Lee-Wong, MD, MS, Chief of Adult Allergy and Immunology, Maimonides Medical Center, was recognized for her leadership and contributions to community service at the Urban United Association’s 250th Anniversary of America: Building on the Past and Ushering in the Future event and Asian Pacific American Heritage Month awards ceremony on May 26 in Albany.  

 Dr. Lee-Wong received the “Outstanding Asian American Women Community Leader Award” and received a citation from New York State legislative leaders and Brooklyn representatives Lester Chang and Stephen Chan. Marking the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, the awards promote exceptional contributions to our society by individuals of AAPI heritage. 

“Dr. Mary Lee-Wong embodies the very best of what our community stands for: excellence forged through dedication, and service given without hesitation. As Chief of Adult Allergy and Immunology at Maimonides Medical Center, she has not only healed her patients but strengthened the soul of the neighborhoods we serve,” said New York State Assembly Member Lester Chang. “It is my highest honor to recognize a true trailblazer whose life’s work makes Brooklyn, and all of New York, better.”

An allergist and immunologist who has served the community for many years, Mary Lee-Wong, MD, MS, FAAAAI, FACAAI, has earned a reputation among her patients as a well-respected, caring provider. In addition to her role as Chief of Adult Allergy and Immunology, she also serves as Medical Director of Asian Outreach at Maimonides. She holds a medical degree from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, and completed fellowship training in allergy and immunology at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, followed by a master’s in clinical research at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She became the first female professor at Mount Sinai Beth Israel’s Department of Medicine and is currently Professor Emeritus at Icahn School of Medicine. She is board certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and has published many articles about allergy, asthma, and immunology. 

She has been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor each year since 2019, and was honored as a Castle Connolly Exceptional Woman in Medicine in 2026. She has also been recognized as a New York Super Doctor since 2022, in addition to multiple recognitions as a New York Magazine Top Doctor.
