Local business leaders took part to support patient outcomes and experience for more than 6,000 annual deliveries at Maimonides
Brooklyn, NY, June 30, 2026 – Maimonides’ annual Golf Classic, held on Monday, June 29, raised more than $350,000 to be used to upgrade every labor and delivery room with wireless fetal monitoring systems, supporting positive outcomes for Maimonides mothers and babies and reducing complications during the birthing process.
The funds will cover the entire implementation of the new monitoring systems, including equipment, software, and staff training. Wireless fetal monitoring supports Maimonides’ broader mission of promoting physiological birth and advancing minimally invasive obstetric practices, empowering patients with mobility and autonomy during labor, which have been shown to decrease labor duration, improve pain management, and reduce the likelihood of complications and interventions.
“In our Labor and Delivery Unit, we are pushing to ensure the birthing process is as safe and comfortable as possible. It’s our priority to ensure that new mothers feel like they are being treated with their preferences, autonomy, and well-being in mind, not just as a set of numbers,” said Scott Chudnoff, MD, Chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology and a member of the 2026 Golf Classic Committee. “Providing access to advanced technology creates more equitable care for our diverse patient populations, particularly for underserved groups who may not otherwise have access to such innovations. This aligns with our mission to address health disparities in maternal outcomes and foster trust within our community.”
The Golf Classic brought together hospital, community, industry, and business leaders at North Hempstead Country Club for its 23rd year. Over the past three years, net funds have more than doubled, funding projects that benefit patient care and quality in a variety of clinical areas, including women’s health, pediatrics, and cardiology.
Compass Healthcare was the event Title Sponsor for the third year in a row. Other participating sponsors included: Bensonhurst Center for Rehabilitation & Healthcare; Long & DeLosa Construction Group; Blue Hill Data Services; Coalition of Asian-American IPA; Hunter Roberts Construction Group; Henick-Lane Service Corp; Community Electric; Dome International; and Centers Health Care.
“We’re honored to support Maimonides Health and its commitment to advancing the health and well-being of its community. This event highlights Maimonides’ investment in bringing innovative technologies to patients, creating safer, more personalized experiences. We’re proud that our partnership will help improve outcomes and promote equity in care, especially during one of life’s most important moments,” said Howard Weinstein, Division President, Compass Healthcare.
“We take immense pride in having the backing of our community as we set out to raise the bar for care in Brooklyn,” said Ken Gibbs, President and CEO of Maimonides Health. “Last year’s Golf Classic funded essential improvements to our pediatric infusion center, one of the only of its kind in Brooklyn. This year, proceeds will make a more comfortable, safe, and patient-forward birthing process possible during the approximately 6,000 deliveries at Maimonides each year. We thank all of our sponsors for making this initiative possible.”
