Brooklyn, NY — Maimonides Health is delighted to announce the birth of Brooklyn’s first baby of 2026. Noah Joseph Lewis, weighing seven pounds, five ounces and measuring 51 cm & 20 inches long, was born at 2:22 am on January 1, 2026, at Maimonides.

The healthy baby boy was born to proud parents Chelsea Modeste Lewis and Devin Lewis of Flatbush, Brooklyn.

“I feel very blessed to be beginning this year with a new addition to our family,” mother, Chelsea Modeste Lewis. “I can’t wait to witness the relationship blossom over the years between Noah and his big sister Jamie.”

“Simone, the midwife group, the nurses and the whole staff at Maimonides were great,” said father, Devin Lewis. “We are immensely grateful to Maimonides for supporting us as we begin our journey with our baby boy and our new family of four.”

Both mother and baby are doing well under the care of Phyllis Lynn, Certified Nurse Midwife, Simone Chang, Certified Nurse Midwife, and Selena Chen, RN. In a surprising coincidence, Lynn also delivered mom Chelsea at Maimonides in 1993.

Maimonides Health, Brooklyn’s largest healthcare system, delivers approximately 6,000 babies each year, making it one of the busiest labor and delivery programs in New York State. Ongoing investments in pediatric and emergency care, including the recently opened and expanded Children’s Emergency Department, designed to provide faster, specialized care in a dedicated, child-centered environment, further strengthen the hospital’s ability to support families and deliver comprehensive care for both routine and high-risk births.
