Recover. Strengthen. Feel like yourself again.
Pregnancy and childbirth can change your body in many ways. Growing a baby, hormone changes, and giving birth can weaken or overstretch the bladder, uterus, and bowels. This can cause bladder leaks, pelvic pain, pressure, or difficulty with bowel control. Some women also develop scar tissue or muscle tightness.
Postpartum pelvic floor therapy helps restore strength, function, and confidence.
Brooklyn’s first dedicated postpartum pelvic floor program
At Maimonides Health, our PEARL Program (Postpartum Exercise and Recovery Liaisons for Pelvic Floor Health) provides specialized postpartum pelvic floor therapy. We offer these services in a supportive, confidential environment. This is Brooklyn’s first and only dedicated postpartum pelvic floor program.
Located within the Pelvic Floor Center, PEARL is women-led. It brings together pelvic floor therapists, urogynecologists, and rehabilitation specialists. Our team listens to you and develops a care plan to help you heal. We offer pelvic floor assessment, advanced diagnostics, and pelvic muscle therapy. You’ll also have access to specialized treatments to restore function and reduce symptoms.

Signs of pelvic floor conditions
Pelvic floor problems after pregnancy can make daily activities a little harder. Here are some pelvic floor symptoms common to women.
- Bladder leaks – Peeing a little when you laugh, sneeze, cough, or exercise
- Frequent or sudden need to pee – Feeling like you have to go all the time, even right after using the bathroom, which can also lead to frequent urinary tract infections (UTIs)
- Pelvic pain or pressure – A heavy or achy feeling in your lower belly, especially after standing for a while
- Pain during sex – Discomfort caused by tight muscles, scar tissue, or changes in the vaginal area
- Bowel problems – Trouble with constipation or pain when going to the bathroom
- Bulging or heaviness – A feeling like something is falling out of your vagina
- Lower back or hip pain – Weak pelvic floor muscles can make it harder to support your body, causing aches in your back or hips
Pelvic floor conditions can also make it hard for you to empty your bladder. This can lead to frequent UTIs. If you experience any of these symptoms, our team is here to help.
Specialized diagnostics to confirm a pelvic floor condition
We use the latest technology to determine if you have a pelvic floor disorder. That information helps us develop the right treatment for you. Our on-site testing includes:
- Pelvic floor 3D and 4D ultrasound for real-time imaging
- Dynamic MRI to assess muscle coordination
- Urodynamic testing to measure bladder control and function
- Urinary and bowel continence assessments to personalize treatment
These advanced tests help us pinpoint the cause of your symptoms and develop the most effective plan for your recovery.

When to see a pelvic floor therapist
If you experience symptoms like bladder leaks, pelvic pain, or pressure, postpartum pelvic floor therapy may help. Many moms start therapy within six weeks after delivery, but it is never too late to get care.
Healing takes time, but you can feel strong, confident, and in control again with the right treatment.
