Welcome to the Dental Residency Program
Our dental residents attend monthly scientific meetings and receive weekly lectures from our attending staff
General dental program
Our general dentistry 1-year program annually trains 6 residents to provide high quality, professional and comprehensive dental services to their patients. Didactic and clinical skills are reinforced as our residents gain expertise in all specialties of dentistry including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, orthodontics, periodontics, pedodontics, implantology, pain, anxiety control, myofacial pain/dysfunction, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, oral surgery, management of the medically compromised and special needs patient, inpatient care/management, emergency room care, medical risk assessment, and physical diagnosis.
Our residents participate in practice management, community service activities, health fairs, and special school programs focused on preventing oral disease.
Dental residents must complete a 1-month rotation in the Anesthesia Department, where they learn about patient assessment, venipuncture, airway management, post-op assessment, pharmacology, and sedation techniques. Residents are required to provide emergency room coverage on an ongoing and rotating basis to enrich their experience in the treatment and management of dental trauma and emergencies. Upon completion of our program, residents are able to provide a high standard of care to their patients.
Residents rotate to the departments of surgery, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, and pediatrics
Pediatric dental program
The Pediatric Dentistry program is a 2-year program that trains 4 residents per year. We train residents to expertly provide primary and comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral healthcare to children of all ages—from infants to adolescents, including those with special healthcare needs.
We prepare residents for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry exam by focusing on the standards of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Our pediatric dental program provides residents with the required skill set to practice in institutional, private, or public health settings. Upon program completion, residents will be capable of establishing, running, and maintaining a successful pediatric dental practice. Our program is a center for learning and a continuous resource for graduates, the dental community, and the community of Brooklyn.
We educate the future pediatric dentists of our community to work in coordination with other healthcare and social disciplines
The future of medical care is you
