About Me

Dr. Dennis Feierman is the Vice Chairman in the Division of Anesthesiology at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. After completing his residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center and the City University of New York, he joined the liver transplant team and became co-director of one of the world's largest transplant programs. In addition, he received certification in Perioperative Echocardiography and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Feierman has clinical expertise in a wide variety of specialties, including hepatic resection/transplant as well as cardiothoracic and pediatric anesthesiology. Dr. Dennis Feierman headed an NIH funded science laboratory for over ten years, and was the first to describe the specific enzyme that metabolized fentanyl, the most frequently used narcotic in anesthesia. He has written numerous peer-reviewed publications and has co-authored chapters pertaining to hepatic function and anesthesiology. Dr. Feierman also has given numerous lectures both nationally and internationally. He has a life interest in instilling in each resident a desire to have high expectations of themselves and thereby increase their desire to learn.
