About Me

Carole Filangieri, PhD, is a New York State licensed psychologist and is currently the Director of the APA-accredited Psychology Internship program in the Department of Psychiatry at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Filangieri earned her doctoral degree in psychology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, graduating from the Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Neuropsychology doctoral subprogram. Dr. Filangieri completed her predoctoral internship in the Traumatic Brain Injury unit at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology in private practice in Port Jefferson Station, New York. As Director of an APA-accredited internship program, Dr. Filangieri coordinates recruitment, interviews, didactics, and manages six psychology interns each academic year. Additionally, Dr. Filangieri provides direct patient care, supervises psychiatry residents, psychology interns, and psychology externs, provides didactics to psychology trainees and psychiatry residents, and participates in research. Dr. Filangieri is a passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ mental health and provides gender-affirming care according to the guidelines of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health’s Standards of Care.
