Louise Valerio, VP & Executive Director of our Cancer Center, was recently honored by the Brooklyn Cyclones as a “Winning Woman,” their program recognizing women for their professional accomplishments–and for giving back to the community. Louise was joined that night by other trailblazers—two of the real players of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL), as depicted in the film, A League of Their Own. Film stars Megan Cavanagh and Tracy Reiner were also recognized with a ceremony on the field, and each of the ladies threw out a ceremonial first-pitch. Spectators were unanimous in noting that our own Louise Valerio had the best pitching arm in the group.
