Dr. Ioannis Alagkiozidis is the Director of Gynecologic Oncology at Maimonides Medical Center. He also serves as Associate Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology at SUNY Downstate Medical School and as the Program Director for the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship.

Dr. Alagkiozidis completed his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas in Houston and fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology in SUNY-Downstate/Kings County Hospital. He is board-certified in Gynecologic Oncology and Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Alagkiozidis has extensive experience in minimally invasive (robotic and laparoscopic) surgery, open surgery for advanced gynecologic malignancies and chemotherapy. He is recognized as a Master Surgeon of Excellence by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC).

Dr. Alagkiozidis is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society and the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and an oral examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the subspecialty of Gynecologic Oncology
He has won numerous teaching and research awards, authored multiple articles and book chapters, and has been named a Castle Connolly “Top Doctor” every year since 2019.
