Dr. Greg H. Ribakove is a Director and surgeon in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. He is Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery. Previous to Maimonides, Dr. Ribakove had joined NYU Medical Center as an attending surgeon in 1988, after finishing his NYU fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery. In 1993, he went on sabbatical to Stanford University to study heart and lung transplantation. Since then, he has held a series of prestigious positions, including: Director of Surgical Intensive Care, NYU Medical Center; Chief of the Division of Cardiac Surgery, Bellevue Hospital Center, New York; and Vice Chairman of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, NYU Medical Center. Dr. Ribakove became a part of the Maimonides team in 2010, as Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Dr. Greg H. Ribakove has been on the forefront for research and development of minimally invasive heart surgery, and has published extensively throughout his career. Currently, he holds the academic position of Associate Professor of Surgery at NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Ribakove is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgery (STS), the New York Society of Thoracic Surgery (NYSTS), the Andrew G. Morrow Society of Cardiovascular Surgeons, the Spencer Surgical Society, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the International Society of Heart Lung Transplantation.
