Alejandro Zuretti, MD, has been the Medical Director of Laboratories at Maimonides Medical Center since 2018 and Vice Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Administration at Downstate Medical Center University Hospital of Brooklyn since 2014. He was previously Chairman of Pathology and Laboratories at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, NY, and member of the Senior Leadership Team of the Northwell Health System Laboratories. Before then, Dr. Zuretti was the Chair of Pathology at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, and previously, Attending Pathologist at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Manhattan. Dr. Zuretti is Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. He completed his residency and fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital, New York and graduated cum laude from the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine and the National College of Buenos Aires. Dr. Zuretti has been a Joint Commission Laboratory Inspector for the past 10 years. He is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists, the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the American Association for Clinical Chemistry. In addition, he is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pathology at the State University of New York in Brooklyn, and was previously Associate Professor of Pathology at the Hofstra School of Medicine in NY, having numerous publications in the field.
