Maimonides plays a unique and significant role in the lives of Brooklyn’s youth. In a borough of over half a million children, we are home to Brooklyn’s only Pediatric Trauma Center and only comprehensive Children’s Hospital.

Pediatric trauma and emergency care are provided in our fully-accredited Pediatric Emergency Room, a division of both Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics. Our Children’s Hospital treats infants, children and adolescents with family-centered care in all major medical and surgical pediatric specialties. A dynamic Child Life Program supports the emotional and educational needs of our young patients. And Maimonides brings more babies safely into the world than any other hospital in New York.

In October 2025, we opened our newly expanded Children’s Emergency Department—the largest freestanding children’s emergency department and only dedicated pediatric trauma center in Brooklyn. As the borough continues to grow with ever more young families making their homes and livelihoods here, the creation, maintenance and expansion of vital pediatric services at Maimonides reflect our strong ongoing commitment to the children of Brooklyn.
