Sydnie has had concerns about her weight for much of her life, which was affecting both her mental and physical well-being. After years of feeling frustrated that diet and exercise were not enough to help her achieve a healthier weight, she felt ready to try bariatric surgery.
Despite some initial worries over the surgical prep and recovery involved, Sydnie says, “I was determined to make it stick and do it for myself, really, because that’s who I was doing it for in the first place.”
It’s been two years since the surgery, and Sydnie feels like a changed person, “If I can do this, I can do anything.”
Sydnie and her family are very grateful for the comprehensive and supportive care they received from bariatric surgeon Dr. Alexander Abdurakhmanov, physician assistant Elana Gluzman, and the entire team at Maimonides Weight Management Center.
