Dr. Shiv Raj is an Interventional Cardiologist who has undergone extensive training to enhance his expertise in the field. He completed the majority of his training, including Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Interventional Cardiology, at Maimonides Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Fellow. This foundational training provided him with a solid understanding of cardiovascular medicine. In addition to his primary training, he pursued two additional sub-specialty fellowships to further expand his skillset. Firstly, he completed a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Critical Care at Brigham and Women's Hospital – Harvard Medical School. This specialized training focused on managing a wide range of post-surgical patients, including those requiring mechanical circulatory support, ECMO, and cardiac/multi-organ transplant. This experience equipped him with the necessary skills to handle high-acuity cases and complex situations, ensuring the best possible care for critically ill patients. He further honed his expertise through a fellowship in Structural Heart & Adult Congenital Heart Interventions at New York Presbyterian – Weill Cornell. This sub-specialty training involved advanced procedures utilizing transcatheter interventions for conditions such as aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valve disorders. Additionally, he gained proficiency in performing septal closure procedures (such as ASD and PFO) and left atrial appendage interventions. This fellowship also provided training in cardiac computed tomography (CT) analysis, a valuable tool for evaluating and planning these complex cardiovascular procedures. Overall, Dr. Shiv Raj's extensive training demonstrates his ability to manage high-acuity patients and perform complex cardiovascular procedures. His comprehensive approach to cardiovascular care focuses on developing personalized, evidence-based treatment plans that take into account each patient's unique medical history, lifestyle, and goals. Through his specialized training and expertise, he aims to provide the best possible care to his patients, ensuring their well-being and successful treatment outcomes.
