Julie Huang, DO, is an attending physician at Maimonides Cancer Center who specializes in hematology and medical oncology with a focus in breast and thoracic cancers. The first doctor in her family, Dr. Huang watched family members handle diseases such as Alzheimer's and pediatric leukemia, which motivated her to pursue a career in medicine. As an Asian American raised in a Cuban household in Harlem, she is aware of cultural differences in approaches to serious illness. Dr. Huang went to medical school at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Osteopathy degree. She completed her residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology/oncology at NYU Langone Hospital‒Long Island. As a physician, Dr. Huang is honored to be her patients' advocate at an especially vulnerable time in their lives. She is excited about contributing to the cancer care program at Maimonides Cancer Center and supporting her patients' physical and emotional health and well-being. Dr. Huang is a member of professional organizations such as the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology.
