Joshua A. Feinberg, MD, is a board-certified surgeon who specializes in breast surgery. Dr. Feinberg works in the division of breast surgery at the Maimonides Breast Center in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Feinberg completed his general surgery residency at Maimonides Medical Center. During his training, Dr. Feinberg completed a one-year research fellowship in Evidenced-Based Practice and Patient Safety at Oxford University, where he was awarded a major program grant from the National Institute for Health Research. Following the conclusion of his general surgery training, Dr. Feinberg completed a Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) breast surgical oncology fellowship at NYU Langone. Dr. Feinberg was drawn to the treatment of breast cancer from an early stage in his training, largely because it is a hybrid between the art and science of medicine. He focuses on merging clinical expertise and research evidence with patient preferences. In contrast to a “one-size fits all” approach, Dr. Feinberg forms bonds with his patients and emphasizes treating the whole person to tailor treatment plans and provide individualized care. The multidisciplinary, team-based environment at Maimonides Breast Center fosters collaboration between Dr. Feinberg and colleagues from various specialties including medical oncology, radiation oncology, breast imaging, genetics, and more. In addition to Dr. Feinberg's commitment to his clinical practice, he is also passionate about using research to improve healthcare. Drawing upon his surgical innovation work with the IDEAL Collaboration in Oxford, England, Dr. Feinberg plays an active role at Maimonides in the enrollment of patients in multicenter clinical trials, utilizing cutting-edge technologies and providing state-of-the-art care. His research has been published in highly respected, peer-reviewed journals, including The Lancet and Annals of Surgery. He is Guest Editor for JAMA Network Open and is an Associate Editor for BMJ Surgery, Interventions, & Health Technologies. Dr. Feinberg’s personal interests include golf, yoga, travel, and spending time with family. He would like his patients to know he believes in a cure for breast cancer and he will fight endlessly for them until we beat this disease.
