Dr. Karthik Nathan, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries and conditions affecting the knee, shoulder, hip, elbow, and ankle. He treats athletes and active patients of all ages and activity levels, providing both non-operative care and advanced surgical treatment to help patients return to the activities and sports they enjoy.

Dr. Nathan specializes in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery and complex reconstruction of the knee, shoulder, hip, elbow, and ankle. His expertise includes ACL reconstruction and revision, multiligament knee reconstruction, meniscus repair and transplantation, cartilage restoration, treatment of patellar instability, knee realignment procedures, rotator cuff repair, shoulder stabilization and labral repair, and shoulder replacement. He also specializes in hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement and hip labral tears, as well as UCL repair and reconstruction, including Tommy John surgery for throwing athletes. His practice also includes the treatment of sports-related tendon and ligament injuries.

Originally from Atlanta, Dr. Nathan earned his degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Hospital for Special Surgery, followed by advanced fellowship training in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at NYU Langone Health.
