Maimonides recently presented its 5th Annual Evening of Research at the Dyker Beach Golf Club in Brooklyn.
The event recognized the extraordinary achievements of Maimonides fellows, nurses and residents. “Everyone here is a big part of who we are,” said Kenneth Gibbs, President and CEO of Maimonides. “Healthcare is the ultimate team sport with a culture of lifelong learning. Each of the projects featured tonight exemplifies why we deliver the best care in Brooklyn.”
The research showcased during the event has been published in many journals. Abstract presentations included:
- An Innovative Meat Model Based Workshop to Increase Faculty Comfort with Performing Nerve Blocks
- Biopsy, Laboratory, and Imaging Risk Factors Predict Gleason Upgrade on Active Surveillance
- IPASS as a Handoff Tool Between Emergency Medical Services and ED Triage Nurses
- Bougie Use with Direct Laryngoscopy Does Not Perform Video-Assisted Laryngoscopy in Endotracheal Intubation
During the reception, Dr. Murali Pagala was presented with the Austin A. Schlecker Academic Achievement Award for 36 years of exemplary service and his numerous contributions to medical research. “Research is what makes any field grow,” Dr. Pagala said. “We are great doctors at Maimonides with outstanding scientific achievements in the medical field.”
Commenting on Maimonides’ Evening of Research, Dr. Sam Kopel, Chief Medical Officer at Maimonides, said, “Research is in our mission. This event is a wonderful opportunity for our residents to shine in front of their colleagues, attending physicians and teachers.”
