Rodney A. McLaren, Jr., MD, graduated and received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington, KY. He then completed his OB/GYN residency and his MFM fellowship here at Maimonides Medical Center.
After graduating fellowship, Dr. Mclaren was a Maternal-Fetal Medicine faculty physician and the Director of MFM Outpatient Clinical Operation at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. In December 2023, he established the Jefferson Diabetes in Pregnancy Program, a multidisciplinary program, including a team consisting of physicians, diabetic educators, nurses, and nurse practitioners from MFM and Endocrinology. In addition, as the MFM outpatient director, he oversaw and helped manage the Cardio-OB program with cardiology and MFM Plus (HIV) with infectious disease.
His clinical and research interests are high-risk pregnancies, in particular, but not limited to diabetes in pregnancy. He is the author of more than 60 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.
Dr. McLaren returned to Maimonides Medical Center in January 2025 as the Director of Ambulatory Maternal Specialty with plans to continue to help expand the amazing care that the Maimonides team provides to Brooklyn.
