Firpo Grant found it hard to walk even ten steps due to worsening heart failure. The cardiac experts at the Maimonides Heart & Vascular Institute implanted an LVAD device to help his heart pump blood more efficiently. His family now calls him “Mr. Marathon” because he is so active and “running all over the place.” Maimonides is the only hospital in Brooklyn performing this procedure, which helps patients with end-stage heart failure get back to their families and their lives.
