About Me

Dr. Sowmya Josyula is originally from Hyderabad, India. She earned her medical degree from Gandhi Medical College, NTR University and completed her residency training at St. Barnabas Hospital, Bronx, NY. In addition, she also has been trained in public health with a focus on research, global health policy and leadership. Dr. Josyula has a particular interest in the care of medically complex elderly patients, complicated diabetes and hypertensive patients and in preventive care of adults. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, classical music and dance. Dr. Josyula's research so far focused on reporting rare cases, studying the epidemiological and social determinants of cancer. She has a special interest in resident teaching and learning, specifically looking at professional education, and teaching methods. Dr. Josyula also wants to use her strengths in health policy to promote and work on wellness perspective of patients in the primary care settings.
