We are currently seeking a Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist with a MS Degree and/ or a PHD Degree in Medical Physics with some post Residency hands-on experience. Candidates with certificate of completion of Residency in the field of Radiation Therapy Physics from an Accredited Program and graduating candidates from such programs can also apply.
Radiation Oncology at Maimonides: Consists of 6 RO faculties, 5 RO Residents, 4 Medical Physicists, 3 Medical Dosimetrists, 2 Assistant QA Physicists, and experienced therapists and nursing staff plus the IT staff from Maimonides MIS. 80 patients are treated daily with EBRT: IGRT/ SBRT on 2 Varian Linear Accelerators, a Halcyon and an EX-machine. A state-of-the-art new Varian Ethos technology for Adaptive therapy is scheduled for installation in 2024. Elekta MOSAIQ and Varian ARIA OIS and Varian Eclipse TPS are in use. GE CT-Sim, Siemens PET/ CT and Siemens MRI machines are utilized for patient imaging. In addition, Department has a robust and busy Brachytherapy Program.
Responsibilities: provide support to clinical, educational and research activities within RO environment; participate in departmental projects, protocols, and programs; take active part in the clinical physics tasks related to treatment planning and delivery process and workflow; work closely with physicists to perform QA on therapy machines, TPS, and related equipment; participate in the activities related to updating/ upgrading/ enhancement of QA protocols and initiation of new QA programs; provide support to physics team and assume responsibility for tasks related to commissioning of new therapy machines, systems and related technologies; participate in interdisciplinary activities to promote quality of patient care within Maimonides Medical Center and greater Brooklyn communities.
Qualifications: experience with Eclipse TPS, ARIA/ MOSAIQ OIS, Varian Linear Accelerators, and familiarity with Halcyon/ Ethos technology and Brachytherapy procedures; ability to participate in education/ research programs and to contribute to new clinical physics projects; excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and computer programing skills a plus.
Requirements: Certified/ or eligible for certification/ by American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) or have equivalent credentials acceptable to the Chief Medical Physicist that will qualify the applicant for applying for NYS Licensure.
Salary- Benefits: $180,000 – 220,000, plus benefits.
