Dr. Roberts joined Maimonides in 1997. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at SUNY: Health Science Center at Brooklyn. After Residency, Dr. Roberts completed a fellowship in Reproductive Genetics at the Albert Einstein college of Medicine in the Bronx, New York.Dr. Roberts has participated in landmark publications related to genetic disease and birth defects. In her fellowship, her research led to the discovery of the gene responsible for a disease that can cause male infants to die immediately after birth. Later, she participated in research showing that antibodies to the folic acid receptor can lead to birth defects. Among her many accomplishments is a publication that revolutionized the policy on prenatal diagnosis. The paper challenged the old practice of routinely recommending invasive fetal testing in women over age 35, pointing out the advancement in less invasive serum detection rates.Dr. Roberts is AIUM certified, her practice is AIUM accredited and she is highly skilled in detailed sonographic evaluation. Training and working in an urban high risk population equipped Dr. Roberts to handle high risk patients as well. With nearly 30 years experience in prenatal diagnosis, Dr. Roberts is well known as an expert in managing fetal anomalies and few can match her expertise in invasive prenatal diagnostic procedures. She exudes confidence with her "we can handle anything" approach and allays the anxiety some women experience upon being told of abnormal ultrasound findings.n
