About Me

Dr. Hanano Watanabe is a general pediatric cardiologist at Maimonides Children's Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. She received her B.S./M.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology and minor in French Literature from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. She then received her M.D. from Weill Cornell Medical College and completed her residency in pediatrics at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Watanabe worked as a pediatric hospitalist in the pediatric cardiac critical care unit at the Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York at Columbia University Medical Center prior to completing her fellowship in pediatric cardiology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center and Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Watanabe is excited to join the community at Maimonides Medical Center and to serve the community in Brooklyn as their general pediatric cardiologist. She provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to all her pediatric patients and their families in both outpatient and in-hospital settings. She also provides fetal counseling to expectant mothers and families who are referred by the obstetrical team to evaluate for any congenital heart disease. Dr. Watanabe is proficient in Japanese. Dr. Watanabe's research interests include topics in preventive pediatric cardiology, including evaluation and management of pediatric hypertension, hyperlipidemia, obesity, and promoting healthy lifestyles in children. Furthermore, she is interested in early childhood determinants of health, including early nutrition and the maternal-fetal environment. Her other interests include quality initiatives and medical education.
